Thank goodness I have summers off...

Picture
This is my MOH and I (my little sis, on the left) at a wedding for my cousin when I was a BM. She will be my DIY slave all summer. Haha! Love ya sis. I will promise to keep her supplied with summery drinks so she can stay motivated!

I work for the school district, so currently, I have a week and a half left of school. YIPPEE!!
Let the DIY projects begin!

Here is a list of what I plan to make so far:

Card Box (one of my bridesmaids let me borrow a lovely decorative bird-cage, and I will just ad ribbon in our wedding colors)
Wishing Tree for Guest Book
Bridesmaid Jewelry (maybe, we'll see how ambitious I get)
Flower Girl Jewelry (ditto)
Guest Favors
Invitations and inserts (they are assembled, I will print them myself)
Escort Cards
Table Numbers
Menus
Programs
Picture Display (of D and I; I think our moms are going to help with this)
Memorial Framed Pics
Emergency kits for Bridesmaids
A bunch of other stuff I am not thinking of at the moment...

Bird cage card box: This is similar to the one my bridesmaid is letting me borrow:

I decided after lots of shopping online and pricing craft supplies, that it will be easier (and free!) to just borrow this from my friend. It looks antique/vintage, and serves the purpose. We will weave some dark brown/champagne ribbon through it, and call it good! It is really pretty.

These are what my invites look like:

Picture
I found my invites in the clearance aisle at Walmart. They were 225 for $153. Everything is included, and I have them printed.

My invites don't have a leaf on them, but I want to find little faux pearls with a flat side and glue them somewhere on the invitation.

I looked into several printing places around town, and UPS had the best deal, and was the only place that said they can do them! 16 cents a peice, plus a flat $12 to do the design.

Wishing tree for guest book.

Picture
Our photographer plans to make us a guest book album out of engagement pics, so I think I will insert blank pages between the album pages and glue the wishes from the wishing tree in there, or make a scrapbook of them altogether.

Jars for the wish tree cards.

Picture
I like the idea of finding some cool apothecary jars to place next to the guestbook/wishing tree. The jars will hold the cards...or, instead of the wishing tree, I will just have these jars. One will have the blank cards, one will have the completed cards, and who knows what will be in the other jar. Or, there will just be two.

Favors:

Picture
I am really excited about the idea we have for favors. Since D is a fisherman, I want to do something Alaskan/pertaining to fishing. We both love catching and cooking salmon and halibut. I want to create and make a seasoning mix for salmon and one for halibut. Then, I will bottle them up in small spice jars with labels and attach a little recipe card for how to use the seasoning to prepare halibut or salmon. I like the box at left with the elegant monogram and ribbon, so it is an inspiration on how to package/present the seasoning mixes. I will put our wedding date on the labels.

Vintage Frames:

Picture
I want to spend lots of time shopping for vintage looking frames for the table numbers, and for the pictures of D and I as little kids, and for the memorial photos of my grandparents, D's uncle etc. I will spray paint them all the same shade of brushed nickle.

Menus:

I will print the menus this summer, and would like to attach a vintage flower with a pearl in the middle or something. They'll be very similar looking to this menu card with same font.
