My amazing gown: I can't wait to wear it.

Picture
This is  my wedding gown, an Oleg Cassini. It was love at first sight, even before I had it on. To find a dress, I went to a total of 5 bridal shops in 2 cities and I have no idea how many gowns I tried. I looked through hundreds online. At one point, I had "narrowed" it down to 9 choices I liked (at which point I became stressed). I asked the lovely ladies of the Knot for help, and got some good suggestions about how to pick your dress and how to know it is the one.

At the last shop, on the last day (which was this past April 19th), the bridal consultant pulled this for me. I had called ahead and it was on my list of gowns to try on, but I wasn't crazy about it. I almost called back before my appointment and told them to take it off the list because I didn't want to waste my time.
The online picture at left just doesn't do it justice. You can't see the actual pearl and rhinestone detailing or the lace, and I thought "meh" when I saw it online, but at the shop, when she brought it out on the hanger, it was like "Ohhhhh, wowwwww."

The detailing is so much more amazing in real life. The lace overlay is very elegant, and it has an antique feel to it. The train is longer than it looks, and it is super comfy and light on my body. It just felt good, and I looked good! It is fitted in all the right places. I put it on, and said "yep, this is it, we're done." I was so thrilled that the decision came so easy once I had it on, just as the veteran Knotties had told me!

My mom will make my veil: I hope it looks similar to this:

I want a cathedral length veil (have to have this since I am really getting married in a cathedral)!

My mom is a really great seamstress, so I asked her to make one for me, for sentimental reasons, to have her do something really special for the day, and to save $200! I LOVE cathedral length veils. Love, love, love. I will wear a shorter one that probably hits me somewhere in the middle of my back for my reception.

Hair peice

My hair will be in a low chignon or bun, and I will probably have a side part and some wispy things around my face. My veil will attach under the bun.

I want all of my accessories to have somewhat of a vintage antique vibe, which is the overall look/theme of the wedding. I would wear one like this on the side of my low bun, or on the top of the veil somehow. I still haven't found one.

My lovely shoes:

My shoes! I bought these before I had my dress. I loved them so much, I was determined they would go with whatever dress I bought.
I had ordered two other pairs from Zappos that were super cute. Sadly, they were a bit too tall. I wear heels every day, however, my fiance is only about 5 inches taller than me, and with heels, we would be eye to eye, and I wanted to be the height I really am compared to him in the wedding photos and on the alter. So, I reluctantly returned the previous 2 pairs to zappos. After tons of searching online, I found these at www.myglassslipper.com. They are very comfortable. I can't wait to wear them.

Bridesmaids

Picture
The new bridesmaid dress! When I received the previous one, I decided I didn't like it for several reasons, and exchanged it for this. This is the dress, only it will be in champagne, which is a light sandy colored taupe. The dresses are very comfortable, have pockets, and are very flattering on any shape. I liked it so much, I bought one for myself. I hope the girls like them!

The ladies' shoes

This is more the color of the bridesmaid dress, even a bit darker. I have picked out about 5 pairs of heels I like for them, but this is my favorite. However, I might just let each girl choose between the 5 pairs I like, which all have different heel heights etc. That way they can be comfortable.

Another top pick for Bridemaid shoes...such a tough decision for me!

Pretty slingbacks that I also like. These shoes are the color of the bridesmaid dresses...maybe a little lighter.

Bridal Clutch I want to carry at the reception

I found one just like this at David's Bridal on sale. Yay!

Flower Girls!

Picture
I have two flower girls: my fiance's neice who will be 6, and my cousin, who will be 8. I found these dresses on Amazon.com.

I am having a hell of a time finding reasonably priced ivory dress shoes though.
They will carry pomanders made of white flowers instead of baskets of anything (see Flowers page). We can't throw flower petals in the cathedral, which is fine by me, because I didn't want to do something traditional anyway.
I got one of the dresses in the mail, and it is darling. There is gold thread woven in the fabric of the flowers, which I didn't expect, but is really quite pretty.

I am going to treat the flower girls to having their hair professionally done the day of the wedding, and having their little toenails painted.
